I’m not exactly sure what category this recipe falls under; possibly a crustless quiche, or maybe even a frittata. Either way, it’s a crustless egg bake filled with broccoli, using blended cottage cheese as the main cheese/dairy element. The cottage cheese makes this recipe a lighter take on traditional quiche. I like to see it more as a egg bake per-say simply because I absolutely love quiche and would never really consider this to be in the same category!
I’ve made this recipe quite a few times for a wide array of occasions. I have made it on a typical night and eaten it throughout the week, or I’ve even made it for our Saturday College Football spread. My family always likes it too… it’s a great higher protein, lower carb dish for anytime!

What You Will Need
The main elements of this quiche are the eggs and cottage cheese! Other than those proportions and measurements, the rest of it can pretty much be customized to ones own liking!
Here is what I like:
- 6 large eggs
- Cottage Cheese (I use low-fat typically)
- Garlic Powder
- Onion Powder
- Salt
- Cheddar Cheese
- One larger Broccoli Crown
Tips On How to Make this “Quiche”
Baking Dish: I like making this quiche in an 8 inch cake pan. However any oven safe dish will do! I find the 8inch cake pan to be the perfect size for it.
Broccoli: I don’t find necessary to cook the broccoli prior to putting it in the mixture. The broccoli softens enough while the dish is in the oven, so cooking it earlier would have little benefit and possibly lead to a soggier dish.
Cottage Cheese: I believe that blending the cottage cheese is a necessary step for this quiche. Once blended, cottage cheese is very thick and creamy, perfect to serve as a binder.
Other Variations
- Vegetable “Quiche”: I imagine this would be just as good if you subbed out the broccoli for any other vegetable or mix of vegetables. Just simply sub out the 1 1/2 cups of broccoli for whatever you decide to replace it with.
- Cauliflower “Quiche”: Cauliflower especially would be great in place of the broccoli to create a cauliflower quiche! To make this, simply sub out the 1 1/2 cups of broccoli for 1 1/2 cups of cauliflower chopped just like the broccoli.

- Mix the eggs, blended cottage cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, and salt together in a large bowl. Then add in the chopped broccoli.
- Pour the egg mixture into you 8″ lined cake pan and use a spatula/utensil to ensure it is spread and distributed evenly.
- Carefully place in the oven and bake for 35-45 minutes, until the top appears lightly browned and a toothpick comes out clean from any runny egg.
- Let cool for 10-15 minutes before slicing!
